Weather looked nice for sky diving this afternoon, but no, too windy I was told. So rebooked for next morning, which looks like a go. Well, who wants to skydive on Friday the 13th anyway? Instead hiked Mount Iron and took a brief stop at the Puzzleworld attraction before retiring for the evening. Off to Queenstown tomorrow.
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand meezerman... well that night! On the way back we found a dog wandering around with a lead hanging from it so Em sat with her while I went into a local bar to find its owner! Dog and owner reunited we carried on back to the hostel and popped on the internet before bed. Its bonfire night and we can see the fireworks over the lake.

Next morning we have brought ourselves a voucher to get onto wireless internet so we can video talk with Mum and Dad, we text and organise a ...
Wanaka, Otago, New Zealand zoe-nz2009_10... the Rippon Winery. Its a private winery set at the edge of the lake. We had some wine tasting and purchased a few bottles of course before continuing to Diamond Lake for a hike up to the Lake Wanaka lookout point. The hike total was 2 hours round trip and the final result was a spectacular view of the entire area.
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand davidwshih... 4: One of the two cold wash machines would only drain the water afterwards if it felt like it (guess what we encountered when we went to move the washing to the dryers! ;)) That's right, a machine full of freezing cold water with our clothes floating in it. 5: All 3 dryers seemed to lack any moisture sensors as they would run for a fixed amount time and then stop regardless if the clothing was dry or not. 6: Loads of more than 2 items would always require at least 2 ...
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand wolftrails... and a flock of sheep blocking our way! Sheep have definitely not been gifted with brains! Setting out through alpine fields we crossed a rickety swing bridge staring at Mt Aspire glacier before heading up the Rob Roy valley through beech forest, with the roaring river below. An hour and a half later, we reached the viewing area. Before us lay the Rob Roy Glacier face, with multiple waterfalls tumbling down the mountainside. If this was movie, we would ...
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand kirstyandmikeWhat a fab drive, yes Mable did it again. Mac was in heaven it was just like the Scottish Highlands. All was going so well until they stopped at the Blue Pool.... SANDFLIES!!!! they are like pikies at a boot fair. (Yes I can say this, I am not employed in an overly PC controlled job anymore) You can't outrun them and once they are in the car you are in trouble, bit like the film ...
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand easton-martin... the Roy Glacier and mountain range. It was an amazing site, really beautiful snow covered mountain peaks. We even saw a piece of the glacier fall off with a thundering boom. We stayed for about an hour just looking at the views, it was hard to get enough. I would highly recommend the hike to anyone as it was one of the most stunning sites I'd ever seen for just a few hours hike.
Wanaka, South Island, New Zealand jamemorg... could be tricky coming down, let alone the 6/7km walk to get to the start of the trek.

Oh well... or rather oh waterfall ;)

After about 20 mins a very kind guy from Christchurch stopped to ...
