... Drove around the coast to Porlock. Went up a steep climb to the top of the hill from Lynmouth, then over the moors with great sea views along the way. Then back down a steep hill into Porlock. Another village with narrow winding roads. There really is nothing to be done with the roads unless they demolish half the village and I cannot see that happening. It is no wonder the drivers are so patient and accommodating. ... in America. Next drove along back roads to Stoke and Newton Ferris both places little villages tucked away amongst the hills. Continued on to the pretty town of Modbury, through Kingsbridge and the very small village of Buckland Tout Sands ( photo of yellow thatched cottage). ... was quite dark in this narrow, deep cut section, and quite aptly named. This would have to be one of England's hidden treasures and well worth a visit. Superb! The roads we went on today will be ones the cyclists in the Tour of Britain ride on on Thursday. Headed home along the road that continued along the edge of Dartmoor, but it was mostly farmland with some forested areas in the north, but no more dramatic high open moors and tors that we had seen this morning. All in all, a great ...

Gareth has now set sail from Plymouth at approximately 4pm. All feeling a little bit nervous today as the reality hits. Managed just about to get all of our stuff in the car. Fully loaded but we did it. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new era , very very excited. Enjoyed a full on day with the boys and Granny in ...
