Arrived safely after an uneventful journey. Gatwick as busy as ever. Easy Jet is fine has aeroplane with wings and engines that gets you where you want. What else is needed?? Bologna has a very old centre and a sprawling superb. It is a bit of a centre of travel with a hub railway station and airport. Over the years the old city walls have been knocked down but some remain to define the old city from the newer bits. Sadly raining quite hard which rather limits sightseeing. ...

... we made it to Parma and once we got there, the snow outside was so beautiful! Sometimes when I go on bus rides I look outside and it's just so incredible. There is nowhere in America that looks like this. I got even happier once we got out of the bus because after the spoonfuls of vinegar and a cube or two of cheese, I was pretty hungry and was greeted with a big plate of the best cured meats ever! This morning Nathan's battle with the infamous Roman traffic started up again. We got away from the apartment at about 10am and missed most of the peak hour traffic so the trip out of the city was relatively smooth.
