... Lake, along some very narrow roads. On the way back to Kendal we stopped at Low Sizergh Farm shop for lunch and dinner supplies. The shop sells mainly local produce including cheese, bread, ice cream, jams, home made cakes and any type of meat you can think of. For dinner we bought pigeon and pheasant roast and gingerbread ice cream for dessert. Tomorrow we leave for ...

It is very touristy but the lake is wonderful. Then I picked up the start of the Dales Way long distance footpath and followed it back to the caravan site. With hindsight I should have walked the path in the opposite direction because our site was more than ...

... Peter Rabbit here. It was settled by Celts then Saxons then Norse Vikings so many Norse names. A mini Lake Como. Saw the smallest house in the UK in Ambleside which was built high and narrow to avoid taxes based upon frontage.

Had lunch in Grasmere. Various outdoor cafes. We ate at Umbria Cafe. I had quiche and salad and Jim had meat pie. Be sure to get a piece of gingerbread for dessert at the bake shop next ...
