It was a jarring visual, especially when our first experience with a Timisoara plaza was Piata Victoriei, a long and beautiful pedestrian zone packed with outdoor terraces, fountains, and greenery. It's one of the prettiest pedestrian zones you'll find anywhere in Europe, and is prime people-watching territory.

    Highlight of the day for me was at the Hungary/Romania border, got asked for the bike docs by a Romanian border guard, I gave him an A4 receipt from the hotel in Brno (Written in English) he had a good look and than passed it back with a cheery "Thanks"

    ... I pull out my Surface and connect to the wifi and try to figure out what’s going on. The website I was looking at is autogara.ro, which is the national website for buses in Romania. Sure enough, it lists the same buses I saw last night. This time I note in particular which station/location they are supposed to be at.     ... where the group of them that work at the hostel were working on various things throughout the day. They grow herbs and strawberries and some other things like tomatoes as well. They have some bathtubs in the backyard set up for people to 'swim' in during the summer months. It's just a really nice place. Hopefully the shower experience will also be good so I can feel great giving the hostel a stellar review.

    ... oh we've got this really cool technology called credit cards but lets not let anyone use them expect at bankomats where they can get cash out to go back to the original way of paying anyway" it's like, why bother in the 1st place? the hostel owner took great pleasure in telling me Timisoara is the city with the most parks in Romania. he clearly decided to leave out the bit that it's the city with the least cashpoints. anyway, rant over. my next attempt ...
