    Today started by meeting Anna, Tilly and Evie For lunch, then a joke - want do you call a smelly fairy? - Stinkerbell! Sorry had to be done. Then walking down to starbucks for coffee a man stepped out into the road and knocked a police man of his motorbike. Amazingly 20 officers were not dispatched and there was no pepper spray or tazers just a sorry picked up the bike checked it and away! Then we had our hair washed. Ok it includes hard neck ...

    went to wulai to river trace the jia jiu liao stream, but with the rains yesterday the supposedly easy river trace seemed pretty extreme. had to abort after about 40 minutes as hit a spot where water was up to my waist and the bottom of my pack was submerged.

    Arrived just after 6am, caught the bus into town, ate, and checked in to the hostel. Then, since I was feelig good despite my long flight, got right into things by going to Yangmingshan and climbing Cesing mt and checking out the volcanic activity. Ate cheap wonton soup plus pot stickers at the underground mall.

    ... and that was just brutal. If you want to know the full story...scan back through my 2006 Japan blog. Everything I heard about Jade Mountain indicated that the main trail (at least to the lodge) was the easiest out of Asia's 'Big 3' (Kinabalu, Jade and Fuji). I did hear that the final lurch to the peak was something to fear. Still...I was incredibly excited and prayed fervently to the Mountain Gods for good weather and a successful climb to Jade Mountain's main peak...
