... really enjoyed learning all about it.

Red square was set up for a series of concerts and an exhibition, so missed out on the wow factor, but St Basil's Cathedral is as beautiful as it looks on the photos and even more interesting in the inside as it's a series of thin corridors and narrow cupolas with no main section. Treated to an a capella choir as we walked around.

... and the end. Without knowing this we had always gotten out at the middle but this time we were at the front so when we came out the signs said we were in the right place but we hadn’t been there before! Out came the trusty iphone maps and gradually we walked back along busy roads with no pavements to get to the road our hotel was on. Had dinner at a help yourself café (it was OK!) then back to prepare for leaving for the Trans- Siberian ...

... warm and a fantastic location. We dropped our bags and went for a wonder to stretch our legs. First impressions of Moscow are it's super clean, they were washing the roads with soap and lots of people cleaning. Loads of fairy lights which the trees were wrapped in. The streets compared to London are quiet.

After our walk we heading back to the Citrus hostel (the citrus wallpaper is lovely) and crashed out.

... night in an American dinner. Obvs. Day 2 and after sharing breakfast with FK Rostov (who later lost to Spartak Moscow 2-0) we set off to see to the Lenin Mausoleum which rather ironically has a McDonalds as the nearest food outlet. I'd like to say the entombed is a dead ringer for Lenin, but that would be distasteful... And so with bags packed, we're off to catch a train to Beijing. As you do. Network Rail, I hope you're taking note. Phil and Mups ...
