... apartment style accommodation on the 31st floor. The lobby and pool area was located on the 15th floor. Once we checked in we went to the local 7/11 for a well earned beer of Tsingtao and polished it off after a dip in the hotel pool. Although we were on the 15th floor swimming around it felt like we were on the ground floor because of how many other floors were still above us. We also discovered that in China we might be able to reach Olympic swim team level (as long as they ...

I'm sorry for not writing for the last few days. We have been so busy wrapping up the main tour, saying goodbyes, and getting to Guanzhou. Here's a quick recap of what's happened the last few days. Day 10: We woke up in Yangshuo and started our way back to Guilin. This time, we rode by bus. On the way back we stopped at a cooking school where the girls made a few Chinese dishes. They even made dumplings! They did a great job. After we ate their ...

Local Chinese come here and tell the shop keeper the symptoms they are experiencing and he will give them the correct herb for what ails them. Along with the plant herbs we also saw different dried animals and animal parts: centipedes, millipedes, star fish, snake skin, sea horse, and no trip to the market would be complete without seeing live ...

... for dinner at a place with amusing translations of their dishes - and good food!

It was a busy arrival day, and after our early start we were all ready for an early night.

On Thu I had morning and evening classes (now that summer school is in session) and Carol & Don were left to amuse themselves. They managed to get into the city and back again without getting lost - always a good result! ...

Today we experienced Hannah's city. The first stop on our tour was Hannah's orphanage. Our last trip here was 10 years ago so we were anxious to see the changes and hopeful for what the day would bring. As we pulled up the drive, I thought we were at the wrong place, it looked all new and the two massive statues were gone. The orphanage had statues of a woman and a child out front. When the assistant director, Wendy, came out to greet us, she confirmed we were in ...
