... big city in the world. The mansions and modern buildings were definitely in sharp contrast to the slums near the port, where people lived in small shacks.

Back on the ship, I was not feeling all that well. I was congested and felt like I could hardly breathe. We had a light dinner in the Lido and then I just laid in bed and read for the rest of the evening since the next day we would be in Semarang and had another tour planned.

Katherine was able to get out of work early today and we decided to walk to the place that we were meeting Bruno at to have dinner. The place is one of Bruno's favorites and it is called Thai Xtreme. The food there is super hot (for most dishes) and he really likes it. John ordered a spicy fish laksa (it was a soup with noodles) and an avocado milkshake. ...

It was quite easy to get from the airport to Jakarta´s new city center. The bus left us in Gambir Station, by the National Monument, from where we walked to Jalan Jaksa, the street where most cheap hostels and guesthouses are located. With the backpacks on our backs, the walk felt much longer than it really was and we had to stop at Memories, one of the bars in Jalan Jaksa to rest for a while. After checking several places and getting lost ...
