Miyajima: This morning we got up extremely early to get to Miyajima at its best viewing time, high tide. Miyajima is a shrine that, if you visit during high tide, appears as if it is floating on water. Miyajima was a great island. The day we went, it was raining pretty hard. But tourists were still abundant. The thing I liked the most about it was the deer. They frequent the island and are technically wild, but may as well be tame since they are near visitors very often.

It was another early morning as my friend and I wanted to check out some of the famous Beppu "Hells." The Hells are naturally occurring hot springs where the water bubbles forth from underground often with unusual results. We went to two different Hells.
