    ... We were very fortunate to have a sunny day since most days are cloudy, rainy or snowy. I wish I could bottle the smell of the evergreen trees that I enjoyed on my hikes on the Emmons Vista Trail and the Grove of the Patriarchs Trail. Some of the trees are more than 1000 years old!     Our drive from Chinook to Lisa and Rich's place in Auburn was slow and winding, not to mention that the road was "tippy." By this I mean that it caused the coach to tip from side to side due to the nature of the irregular surface of the road.     ... There were green beans, but they were done in a classic (apparently) American holiday way which had them mixed in with a can of cream of mushroom soup and baked a bit in a casserole dish. There were root veggies, but instead of them being roast potatoes and pumpkin, they were candied yams and jacket potatoes. There were also croissanty-ish type rolls on the table and beautiful home-made jams to go with them.
