... Tonight is our last formal night—we’ve gotten some good photos (yes Julie, one for your wall). Everyone has given us advice as how to drive in Oz, where to go in Oz, and generally what we should do. Unfortunately we’ll only have 9 days. We’ll just kind of go with the flow. Looks like the most interesting thing will be driving out of Sydney. One chap made ...
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia marwiltShipboard Life<br><br> We're now at 170 degrees longitude and headed toward the International Date Line, where we lose a day. At a question and answer session with the captain, one lady wanted to know if we would be moving from daylight to night. The shocked captain told her nicely that it would still be daylight and we only change the date. Only a few snickers! It is confusing, especially since we’ve ...
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia marwiltOnce again I stayed on the ship for IPM, but today was rainy and humid. I planned to go to the pool, but the weather caused me to rethink that plan quickly. <br><br>I enjoyed working on some of my photos and creating more slideshows. You may wonder why I don't post more photos, why am I posting mostly just video slideshows?<br><br>As a photographer I don't wish to allow ...
Raiatea, Society Islands, French Polynesia tlbuster... around for a tour. We settled on one in an actual small bus, skipping the infamous "Le Truck". Both cost $30, but we were a lot more comfortable on the “short bus”. Our native guide spoke only a little English, and read to us from a prepared script, but she was cute and informative. The island is only 19 miles around, so we took a leisurely drive. Again the hotels are Tiki ...
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia marwilt... the pool.<br><br>It was really nice out. Not TOO hot, nice breeze, beautiful day to stay on the ship and enjoy the outside decks. I lounged in the water for about 2 hours. Just when the prunes on my fingers started to annoy I came in to get ready for dinner. <br><br>I love it here in the South Pacific, I can see why movies and musicals have been made about it!<br><br><br>
Bora Bora , Society Islands, French Polynesia tlbuster... two players but four characters. Together with a bucket of champagne, we had a very enjoyable afternoon despite the fact that the 'Chance' cards in French confused us a little. We'd have had more chance understanding in Tahitian I think...<br><br>The best day by far, in my opinion (but then I'm not as excited by Monopoly as my darling hubby), was Bastille Day where the staff threw a party for all the guests. This wasn't a case of drink as much ...
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia mrandmrsjocky... enclosed inlet where we snorkelled with various sharks, rays and other fish. Our sailing guide, translated from the French, stated that in the lagoon, "shark is everywhere" and this did seem to be the case here.<br><br>Our final night on Bora Bora was spent back on the west side, at a lovely anchorage in Tapua Bay, just by the reef. We dinghied out to the reef and snorkelled with some rays, then enjoyed a lovely sunset.
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia carolandowen... Anyway, we arrived safely in Papeete in the dark. I just think it's amazing how navigation systems work so brilliantly to steer a plane precisely to a tiny dot in the middle of this massive ocean. We were greeted at the airport with garlands made of fragrant tiare Tahiti. We then made our way to the airport hotel. The next day, we got up early to catch our 7:40am flight to BOB (Bora Bora's airport code). When I opened the blinds, I was just stunned by the ...
Bora Bora, Society Islands, French Polynesia velvetescape... to do a beach volley and hopefully there was some fresh rose wine because with the warm temperature we were totally dehydrated. So a quick bath in the turquoise water and I was already behind my plate eating everything that I could (backpacker style with a buffet). In the afternoon I came back David and Gaelle to the center and I discover that they had Hobie Cat (small Catamaran). So one more ...
