    Pricey But Convenient

A surprisingly comfortable bed, the Yotel is extremely expensive for what you get, but good enough for a night's rest while in transit - the rooms are quite quiet and pitch black. Though pricey, it wasn't much worse than the alternative of staying in a cheaper hotel close to Heathrow once you factor in taxi costs - it simply wasn't worth the hassle for me to seek out any alternatives since I landed at Heathrow at 23:00 and checked out of the hotel the next morning at 8:30.

I didn't actually stay at YOTEL this time, I had a layover but not long enough to need Yotel. However, i've stayed there many many times and thought I'd give this review! REALLY great option for the traveler particularly the person traveling alone. Tiny little cabins only meant for sleep, shower & toiletry, the basics - but fantastic. Highly recommended.

    London Layover

It is finally here! It feels like we have been planning our trip for so long. Hard to believe that the time has come. Our 9 hour flight from Calgary to London left at 10:30 pm and arrived in London shortly after 2 pm. I will say, it was probably one of our best flying experiences. Both of us have never flown with British Airways before and we …

There's nothing like the feeling of clean clothes when you're a traveller. It really is the very best. Especially when you know you're probably going to be really stinky and dirty for the next little while. I'm sitting on the Eurostar from Paris to London, enjoying my clean clothes and reflecting on what is to come next in my great adventure. I'm …

Decided that next time there's a long layover to re think travel plans. Just after 10am, 5am Canadian time (almost been up 24hrs) till have 6 hours before gate is posted, 7 hour before take off. Getting to T1 was easy enough, but having cleared security, not to keen on leaving and coming back in. To get to T1, had to dump out or drink water, so I …

BL #62: Sleep In a Capsule Hotel

Simply for the sake of saying that you had stayed in one, sleeping in a capsule hotel is something that most backpackers would love to do while traveling in Japan. Normally the domain of Japan's Salarymen, capsule hotels are typically used by the workers who have drank a little too much at the karaoke bar after a hard day of work, and missed the …

I have been told they are in the process of finding a replacement, but there is no telling how soon he/she will be hired. As far as the actual work I will be doing, they have put me in charge of the mandatory training programs for all new hires within the Europe Region. Within that, there are ...

One pub I walked past had a sign on the window Alternative Gothic Venue, so I'm guessing if you're not dressed in black and scary looking shouldn't head for that one. I plan to try a pint in each pub in the area and see which feel the best. Many of them have local groups playing so each night you go in you'll get ...

Tuesday Oct.3 -- Today I went on my first London Walk, covering Old Westminster Abbey (1000 years of history). Apparently I picked the wrong walk! It was interesting, but more like being back in history class! I went the right tube station, the right exit, at the right time, on the wrong day! Almost the same walk happens on monday and tuesday, I wanted ...

After a non-stop flight we eventually arrived back to a very grey and rainy London, none of the heat wave everyone had been talking about, no football madness, was struck by how light it was at 5am.....some of the countries we were in the sun didn't rise until about 7am and in NZ we had the shortest day of the year, kinda crazy when in the UK the longest day must have been pretty recently. FINAL REFLECTIONS (DAVE) What an amazing trip, we have seen and ...
