... strange events as the bus driver began to drive again!
Five minutes up the road from where we had parked for the night, we turned into a bus station. Final destination! We were there in Taiyuan!! We had spent the night parked just metres from where we had wanted to be all along!! AArg!! Lost in translation!! The crew had a grand ole laugh at my confused and angry questioning!! Free nights accomodation all the same!
Love ye lots

Z Wutaishanu jsme vyjeli autobusem v 8:10. Cesta do Taiyuanu trvala asi 4 hodiny, vetsina osazenstva ji prospalo - i kdyz personal autobusu se to snazil narusit poustenim nejake cinske superstar neuveritelne nahlas.
O zapachu ani nemluve ...

Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jenny77June 12th- We got up early Friday morning to do some work before our flight to Taiyuan. After lunch we took a cab to the airport where we got our tickets and boarded China Eastern Airlines. It is a great airline, riding the plane here is extremely convenient and well-organized. I had my doubts, but this was one of the better flying experiences I've had. Our flight was only an hour or so and we got a nice little ham and cheese sandwich ...
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China jstellarWe get dropped off at the Qingxu service station at 2:30am. There's a 24hr convenient store, we find a row of plastic seats and tries to make it until the sun comes up. We have been on the road nonstop for 18 hours, have to wait 7 more hours before we can find a bed.
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China whereskyle... it had rained earlier it was just a heavy fog. To get to the dam you must go into the mountains. I'm not sure of the elevation but it is about an hour drive. Near the end the bus goes through 5 tunnels, one of which is over 2 miles long. The tour takes you first to a point overlooking the dam at which time we could barely see across the dam. The 2nd stop is just under the top of the dam which gives the ...
Yichang, Shanxi, China miss.chris... Jenze jsme nemeli paru, kde stavi, tak sla pani s nama a zkousela nas ukecat. Coz mimo jine privedlo mou mysl k zubum.
Taiyuan, Shanxi, China masovy_kasparek... I actually liked is how the archaeologists left some of the soldiers un-reconstructed as it was a good indication as to how the warriors were intially discovered. The third pit (Pit 3), which we actually saw second, was smaller with more high-ranking officers unearthed in this section. The second pit (Pit 2) had less warriors than Pit 1, only about 1300, and much work, archaeologically, is still left to be done in ...
Xian, Shanxi, China kasey_kid... ones left in existence yet they remain uncovered and several times I growled at some children who thought trying to hang from them was a great idea. Their stupid parents got the death look from me as well! But this is what happens when you have a country full of spoilt children! The temple is one hour from the city and costs 70 Yuan to enter. You catch bus number ...
Taiyuan, China eddakath... Random thoughts: Post cards and CDs: After having sent out so many postcards and some picture CDs and realizing just how much time and effort and money it takes I'm really gonna shorten my mailing list for two reasons: 1) only a very few people even let me know that they received them, which is really nice to hear b/c often the countries I send them from don't have the greatest postal systems, so its nice to ...
