... it was astounding that we kept snapping photos and weren't seeing anything. There was so much smog that there wasn't enough light for the photos, until I fiddled with the settings. But photos were disappointing today. We finished the day at the Summer Palace, the Empress's summer residence, which she got to by boat (so they dug a huge canal through the city). ... zoo, and I wish I'd seen more but I had a tailor made silk shirt to pick up. But that will be for its own blog. The panda is certainly a unique animal, and the golden monkeys both make it a worthwhile visit. Surprisingly there weren't as many non Asian tourists here as were in earlier tourist destinations.
