... Bugger. So drop the packs and I went looking. About 20 minutes later after checking a couple of local guesthouses
with no luck, I found a large hotel wanting $50 a night. Screw it. We had the cash and it was our last night in China and I really couldn’t be asked going any further…I must be getting soft. I trundled back to Tim and the bags and we dragged our weary butts back up there.

... an hour before we could travel through...and then there was the two hour wait at the Kazakhstan Border Control. A little disconcerting when they took Dave away to prepare yet more documents and made me wait in the truck for over an hour. He sure was a sight for sore eyes when he returned! More to come on border crossings...
A blessing that we wound our clocks back two hours on entering Kazakhstan. and only had a short journey ...

Funny old day today. It started in a very leisurely fashion with the time difference allowing us a sleep in and breakfast at the hotel. The border opens at 1030am, 830am Kazakh time and we had even more time as we abandoned breakfast when the staff explained that there would be no tea because the water was not hot yet. Nice hotel though and as you can see, we didn't need to redesign the WWW to get internet this ...
