... restaurant and I really couldn't decide what I wanted. Burger or Enchiladas and somehow I had a vision of Randy Hansen telling me to order the Enchiladas. So I did. On the menu it says (all in English of course) that I would get three chicken enchiladas served with rice, beans and tortilla chips. Count the chips in picture. Tortilla chips must be very valuable in China. In case you don't see it, I received three (3 ...
Dalian, Liaoning, China mcoppins... it is still hot for him. Oh well, I just continue to smile when people talk about how hot it is. I know they would laugh at me when I start complaining about the cold.

On one cool morning I was totally amazed as I went to school. It was so clear!! I could clearly see the mountains around Kai fa qu and thought, I need to get out and take some pictures. But, I had to work. Bummer! So as soon as work was over I headed straight to the apartment and borrowed Jason’s ...
Dalian, Liaoning, China mcoppins... rather ironic and confusing symbolism, but perhaps memory fails: please do comment on this if you know about such biological matters. In Yantai I'm staying in paradoxically the cheapest but nicest hotel of my current trip. And I've just had a divine bowl of fish-and-pickled-cabbage soup. The restaurant was small and very scruffy, but the food was glorious, and the place was filled with a charming, down-to-earth family simplicity. So all is well.
Dalian, Liaoning Province, China mert1149... slang for bimbo) stakes… nowadays, I may well make the grade.

Offloading the books (which still haven't arrived in Jinan 2 weeks later, I might add) took up a fair bit of time because I am out of writing practice so it took me ages to write my address in Chinese. This meant that I had to catch a taxi to the airport bus stop, instead of a bus, to save time. This ended up being rather ironic, since my flight was delayed by an hour. The flight stopped in ...
Dalian, Liaoning, China iolair... of the owner, who is also the school’s librarian, told us how long it took him to teach the local bakery to make real hamburger buns, both in shape and taste—they couldn’t understand why he didn’t want sugar in the recipe like their sweet buns.

It is amazing what kind of impact ‘comfort’ food can have when you are travelling, or away from home.

Yum... cheese.

~Ashley
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszliross... I felt more at home. So I tried to encourage them to think about design, what they want the t-shirt to say, or represent... I drew an example on the board of a simple combination of ‘E’ and ‘A’ and that was it, they were sold. I would have changed things around and been a little more creative if I knew I was suggesting ideas rather than suggesting examples... Oh well. Next challenge, teach the students how to use InDesign from scratch in ...
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszliross... would have felt was bang on. One student said: "If this had been real life I would have jumped from the building." The dejected way he said it was pretty funny, but under the circumstances, that is exactly what some people did.

Certainly some of the students did make money, but there was enough variety that it better demonstrated the result across the nation, rather than for a few individuals. One of the best parts was the first and only person to go ...
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszlirossI was banished to the hotel all day, by myself. The worst part was that the medicine was magic and I was feeling better within the hour. I should have thought to bring back some of that cheap magic with me...

I spent the day waiting for everyone else to get back to school so I could expand my entertainment circle beyond my laptop.

When everyone did get back, they were awfully concerned, but it didn't take ...
Wanli, Liaoning Province, China aszliross... we hate to leave it. And, leaving Dalian means the 1st half of my trip is over, but it has gone so fast! So, it feels sad because we both know soon I will be gone from China. But, the happy part is that when we leave Dalian it feels as though we are both going on a grand adventure. Miao has never been to Taiyuan, where Jun lives, so that will be new for both of us. Also the Great Wall is something we will see on this leg of our trip ...
