... time last year. Richard, the centre principal, had been delayed in the USA after a conference but the staff were great and really welcomed us in. Richard had scheduled for me to do 8 lesson observations + feedback over two days, plus one cpd session on homework on Tuesday with Will. I stayed at Ningbo FLS until thursday lunchtime and then went over to Ningbo Xaoishi, the IB centre which is Will's centre. I hadn't been there before and Silvie, the CP was ...

... did not work in China. I needed cash and my family was supposed to pay me three days ago but had forgotten. I gave them half of what I owed, and said I'd come back on Friday to pay the rest. ... me in this random city. When I finally met with my Mandarin teacher, she confirmed my thoughts by saying that Hangzhou is a much better city for foreigners and that she felt bad for me that I had to live in Ningbo. After hearing this, I angrily called up the company and told them that I wanted to be moved to Hangzhou. They told me that I was being immature and disrespectful to my host family by suggesting this and that I didn’t give Ningbo a chance. I told them ...

... 8221; reenacting one of my favorite scenes. My host parents tried to fill me up with the Western food provided in Ikea but it’s hard to explain to them that not all Westerners enjoy fatty foods. After we arrived back home, I tutored the boy for about an hour and then it was time to celebrate the one year old’s birthday. It was adorable watching him smiling over his birthday cake and being completely oblivious to what was going on. We sang Happy Birthday in English, or ...
