      Last Nights in Crete :(

A travel blog entry by tanya.lesiuk on Oct 13, 2014

... with family and friends but I will take part in the art of giving thanks. On a daily basis I have this practice whilst travelling but today especially is a day I have been reflecting on my experiences here in Crete and as a whole on my overall time in Greece. What makes today extra special is that it is not only thanksgiving but also the two year anniversary of having left my country for a life abroad, and of course my final night on the island. I am thankful ...

      Accidents Happen

A travel blog entry by tanya.lesiuk on Oct 10, 2014

I'm not sure if I should call this accidents happen, my finest moment, or girl interrupted. As you all know I'm usually a very organized person but lately it's as if I've been brain dead. I ate on deck 9 at the back of the boat and then headed off to peace and a good book - thank goodness for my Kindle. It is very rough and hard to walk along the hallways but cosy in my little cabin number 6018 - perhaps I should have tidied it before taking a photo though!

Crete-Raki, wine, OJ and some more ancient sites

... From the stalactite/stalagmite depths of the Sfentoni Cave to the palace at Phaistos we've traveled the ancient roads of the Minoans, visited the Roman baths, seen some of the locales of WWII incursions and other civil defense battles that have provided an overview of the long history of invasions that have helped to shape the landscape and culture ...
