Today is a long drive day and we are making our way down to the south of China. The landscape has changed again and it has been so enjoyable just passing the time watching the Chinese world go by whilst listening to my iPod. The scale of building projects, superhighways and huge factories never ceases to fascinate me. The contrast with the traditional field systems and people working the land by hand is striking. ... near the river. Anyway the walk in takes us through a load of butchers, they’ve all sorts of cuts of meat or birds ready for the pot, people are handing them and there’s not a fridge in sight. It would lie there for a while, then it's nose would start wrinkling as it sniffed the around a little way in each direction, with no other ...

We had an 8 hr bus ride from Lijiang to Panzhihua, random fact - it is apparently the youngest city in china, it was a interesting ride, lots of really nice views for the most part and then through a real industrial area where we shared the road with hundreds of trucks filled with coal, and along the road side everything was covered with black dust (people included). It was also on this journey that we had our most horrible toilet experience ...
