At the bus station we are told in one word sentences, no buses to guilin, only one per day at 15.30, it's now 18.00, our only other option is to take a night bus to nanning, a city on route then change. We should arrive at 8am and our bus leaves in 10 minutes...here we go We're lined up and counted in front of the bus then sent to wait in the harbour for the boat, we have to cross onto the mainland first. ... to Guangzhou began in 2008 and now, in 2015 is already done with bullet trains that cut travel time between the two cities from 13 hrs to 3 hrs! The trains run up to 208km/h! It was pretty amazing to take this train remembering that just few years ago, the same journey will take more than half of the day! I am not surprised that Chinese companies are building high-speed rail networks in Turkey and Venezuela.
