... The food was simple but some of the best I've had, even compared to Guangzhou. That night, Ian was feeling sick, so Todd and I watched Season of the Witch and Yes Man. The next morning we went for some great dim sum. The place was smoky and steamy, but had the Grizzlies vs. the Spurs on the flat screen in the middle of the restaurant.
I've also thrown in some pictures of me and my Erhu teacher. I had my last lesson a few weeks ago!
... And there is a rule on sleeper buses - no shoes - which makes going to the toilet a HUGE ordeal. Theres a pair of communal flip flops which you have to wear, (I totally rocked the flip flop and socks look!) Due to the bus being swaying all over the place and no surprise there isnt a Western toilet and I am not a pro at using the Asian toilets, so I was much amused as i was urinating on myself and both legs!

We headed to Kaiping again for part of the day on our last evening here.
Stopped at Lee village enroute, where my mom is from. Wasn't too far from the Mah village, maybe 30-45 minute walk. I imagined dad's best friend walking over there to meet her for the first time and getting dad to go with him for support. She didn't like this guy but liked his friend instead, my dad. (Sorry Uncle Henry!, RIP, I know you found a wonderful lady later.)
... same (fortunately no accidents especially the 2-wheeled ones), little children stopped walking and stared, sitting people gawked as we passed. Very humorous. Toby definitely attracted attention.

Very rural. Those are the immediate words that come to mind.
Not 1, not 2 but many consecutive roosters crowed in the mornings. Families had chickens, some had pigs and other fowl too. Quite a few dogs around and the odd cat if you managed to see it creeping around. Rice, winter melons, plantains, Chinese local vegetables, apples, mangoes, papayas.
