Chinese cooking is my favorite class in China. Yili also teaches that. We make a dish and then we eat it. Then we cook another! Today we made four dishes; Ma Po Doufu, Tomato Soup, Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce, and Stir-Fried Greens. I was amazed at the simplicity of the foods. ... Gate of Xiamen University. We met up with our tour group, caught our 7:15am bus, and started the 3 hour bus ride. But what tour would be complete without stops at tourist traps? Our first stop was a fruit stand with red bananas. I can say first hand that they are denser and sweeter than regular bananas. We stopped at one more place that was devoted to the products of bamboo. I never realized how many things can be made from it. There were fabrics, foods, and art all made from bamboo.
