... can afford one. In fact the difference in costs for a meal are indicative of a major divide - you can still get a meal for less than 50p or you can pay well over 20 pounds (which is what our fish meal cost). Afterwards it's back on the ferry and off in a rather uncomfortable mini bus (unfortunately) to the Hakka homelands.
These roads take us up into the mountains and away from the coast, passing more banana trees than I have ever seen before. This is a major fruit producing ...

The only way to enjoy a Chinese meal is with a large group, otherwise you do not get much of a variety of dishes. One of the highlights was being asked, "Jeff, what should we have for our main dish?" "Main dish, but there are twelve dishes on the table already." "But do you want rice ...
Xiamen, Fujian, China jef_smiI knew before that China is not a tropical country but it got a little too cold for me. I was having breakfast in my lovely Hangzhou hostel, but everytime someone opened the door, a cold gust of wind was blowing in, giving me a chill down to the bone. The forecast didn't promise anything good either. Daytime temperatures were predicted just above the single digits, and nighttime much colder, and the night falls early in eastern China. The wind made it all even more obvious ...
Xiamen, Fujian, China sabaidii... both traditional Chinese instruments as well as flutes and guitars. This seemsto be freedom enough to me. I think for all practical purposes there is enough freedom here. Also was stunned by the fantastic quality of public (read free) schools - back home, such buildings could only have been in exclusive schools costing 3-5,ooo rs per month in fees - here it is ...

Some will turn off not long before but buses 31, 50, 85, 28, 96 and 71 will take you to ...
