Day 7: Yoga with a Crocodile??

... Oh well...we didn´t worry enough to leave the comfort of our bed and mosquito net to go check on them.

When we finally did get out of bed, we went looking for Edgar who had promised us a ride into town so we could catch a colectivo to Xel Ha. After we had no luck in our search, a few people at the hostel told us he had gone to do yoga with a crocodile and was now gone. They later told us they had simply lost him. We were confused to say the ...

... and safe. We stayed at a backpacker hub called Nomadas Hostel, which was packed with travelers from all over the world. The moquitos were pesky, we think perhaps breeding in the kitchen, and Steph had a couple of cold showers but those are minor complaints. We met some awesome people and heard some very interesting stories. We have been pleasantly surprised at the diversity of travellers that we have ...

Tulum....bye bye Mexico!!!

Hola! Right, as it is our last day in Mexico, I (Mark) thought it fitting to finally post another blog! We have done an awful lot in the past 10days, and travelled an awful lot of miles too, so please relax, get a cup of tea, and settle down. Starting from where the last post was left: Oaxaca. A lot has been written about Oaxaca...granted it is a pretty town/city, with some superb craft work, but its not the sort of place you could spend a week in. Still....we did have a bit of a coup on ...

... over a week to go Megan can get money out easily, and we have our passports, and everything else. With any luck Megan can get the money back for her camara when we get home. It's a shame about the photos though, there were some good ones. We're not sure how it happened. The room wasn't left open as far as I know, and Megan says she didn't leave it open. The hospedaje staff had a key so maybe that's how they got in ...

Relax

After another stupid 12 hours ride, I decided to relax and pull off the plug for a day. I stayed in Punte Allen, a wonderful -and remote - miscroscopic village on the beach. I slept on the beach in a little cabañas. I will upload photos, knowing that I may loose a few friends in the process. C'est l'heure de la decompression. L'heure du bilan. Hier soir, je me suis isole sur une belle plage de sable fin, j'ai parle a ...

No doubt, I'm on my way

Just 48 hours ago, I was looking out the window of a small jet in Seattle, my coat a bit wet still from passing under the pounding rain. The night before, I couldn't sleep because I finally started having doubts about my trip: I had no idea what to expect, where to go, how safe I would feel, how well I'd be able to communicate, and whether I was wrongly leaving the few people in this world with whom I feel most comfortable. In short, I was ...

The most beautiful place I have ever been

We left Caye Caulker on a speed boat at 7am and then took I small plane on a short journey up to Corozal and then onto Tulum by bus. Everyone I had met while travelling around had raved about Tulum, but the place excided our expectations. The place is just spectacular. We are staying in beech huts which open straight out onto miles of golden white sand and a roaring ...

Change of Plans, Goodbye Belize...hola Mexico!

... did open up for the Los Angles to Sydney sailing! Tempting, but we can´t do both, and would have had a hard time arranging our air requests with such short notice. We will be back in AK Dec. 6th and heading back to the lodge. I look forward to seeing many of you over the Christmas holiday. All of my siblings will be home starting the 17th, so I´m sure I´ll be in town from that time on until the new years ish. Unless, Tara has that baby a little early! Love you all, Jenny
