    Greetings everyone,

OK, so I cheated. This isn't really an exciting travel update. It's a request to view my fundraising website and send it on to as many people as you know. You can even send it to people that you don't know! :-) As long as they are interested in learning more about pygmy hippos, and maybe supporting my research!

Well... It was a rough start to the day as Eric managed to drop the ball by leaving his glasses in the rental car he turned in. Shhh! Don't tell Lisa! Good news is that Eric has prescription sunglasses - so he can see - sort of;( So Eric spent a bit of time today trying to figure out how to get his glasses back without causing a major issue in the travel schedule. It all worked out - no one could find the glasses so no set backs except that I can't see ...

We wandered about for a while hearing and finally seeing COMMON NIGHTHAWK, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT a bunch of red-headed woodpeckers and great-crested flycatcher. As the dark clouds began rolling in with distant thunder - we wanted to get eyes on the singing Bachman's ...

... we roll into town at 4 or 5pm which is just about sunset again so we don't see much that day, apart from the road that is.

That is fine by me, and it's relaxing to just set the cruise control, make slight adjustments to the steering wheel now and again, crank up some American music and watch the scenery go by. It's all been forest and farm land right through Florida which is pleasing on the eyes. The traffic is light, speed high and roads straight. I've already ...

Week 9 - Florida vs. Georgia

... Carnival? Nope. RAGBRAI? Nope. Florida-Georgia! At least that's what they call. Does it live up to the hype? We'll see. Hurricane Sandy was off the coast of Florida on Saturday, so we were a bit worried about getting a lot of rain that would spoil the fun. But we ended up with very nice day. It was cloudy and 75, just perfect for a pale Oregonian like me!

This day started early, with a 9:45am departure on ...
