Jim & June's Odyssey - Toronto

... Everybody leaves their garbage bags (no bins, no cans) on the sidewalk. It’s supposed to be picked up every night, but some places have 20 bags stacked up. You’d figure that they would set out the bags towards evening, but no, it’s out there ALL DAY LONG. Shoppers/visitors have to navigate around them – it’s ridiculous.

Things we ...

More Toronto Fun

... of people at the hostel for Thanksgiving lunch/dinner. So good, but I was so full. I wasn't sure what else to do the rest of the time in Toronto. It was freezing. I walked around the mall. They had a World Press Photo Exhibit in one of the shopping centers. I loved that, I love photography and am interested in perhaps pursuing photojournalism. What a ...

For those who wish to know (We appease you)
For anyone desperate to "get" all of the references hidden within my cryptic titles - that one's AC/DC (look it up.)

Got an email from Mam today about (aboot, if you will,) my future plans here in Canadiaville. I felt this would be an appropriate juncture, with just over a month left, to tell you all about them. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, I want to let all you fine people know how it's going so that you can await my blogs eagerly in anticipation. Secondly ...

... there's an exquisite pleasure one feels when you come to the realization that you can be equally comfortable sleeping in any bed, be it here or halfway around the world. Likewise, it's very liberating having to rely on your planning skills, your stealth, and your luck to make your way in unfamiliar places, and to have it work out as well as it has for us on this trip. I say luck because I fully recognize that once you are out of your "comfort zone" and at the mercy ...

... back and watched the Zoobombs, who were awesome, Golden Triangle, not so good and then we left when Crystal Antlers came on stage. They were rumoured to be the "buzz band" of the festival this year, like Hollerado was last year. Hollerado actually deserved it, but this band, just sounded like total ****.

Anyway, our ears were exploding so we went around Chinatown and I bought the same bubble tea that I bought last time I was in Toronto. Love it. Bryan got some sort ...

... kept smiling and eventually found our way out. By this time it was about 2pm, so we got ourselves some well deserved food and a few beers. Then we went to the Winston Churchill pub and met a lovely barmaid there called Monique, who thought that what we were doing (i.e. travelling round the world) sounded like a great idea. We had a few more beers, then some Jack Daniels and went back to the hotel tired and a ...

Boring Bus Travel....

... put my bags on the bus but I thought it would go away. Two hours into the bus journey I had a full blown migraine, felt sick, couldn't lay down, couldn't sit up, couldn't get any tablets because they were in my bag under the bus! luckily the driver stopped and the place he stopped sold aspirin - I have never felt so ill in my life and the thing is everything gets blown out of proportion especially at night and when you're not feeling well and you ...

... enter Namibia and continue north-west toward Etosha National Park. The semi desert is quite a contrast to the more fertile terrain we have been used to. We bush camp for a night in this expansive freedom. The night sky ablaze with shooting stars and the warm glow of our campfire makes it an unforgettable camping experience. Etosha National Park is recognised as one of Africa's greatest wildlife viewing areas. Besides game drives we can also game watch by night at one of the ...
