... a tablet evoking the law upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad. Random fact, the copper that has been oxidised and is now green is only the thickness of two US pennies.

... of other people have the same idea so it is super crowded. We had to be patient to take our shots and it was hard to step back and appreciate what was in front of us. The sunset was beautiful and was setting over Uptown. The pinks in the sky were so vibrant and mixed well with the scattering of clouds about. We go up and up to get undisturbed views of the NYC skyline. It was amazing to see the lights come on and watch the city sparkle at night.

The day started at 4:30am. Got up and packed, went and picked up the car and left for the airport. Dropped rental car off and realized I had left passports in the safe at the hotel. Had to et a taxi back to the hotel and back to airport (US$70) but thankfully I got them and we didn't miss our flight. Went to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, 911 memorial, Wall Street and to the lion king broadway show. Walked through time ...
Waking to another damp and dreary day in New York, reminded me of the saying "Your worst day on holiday is better than your best day working…"
Around 10.00am, we once again headed for the 911 memorial. Up until now, you had to book a pass online as the memorial was temporarily fenced off to the public, not sure why, but this time we didn't even recognise the area. The overnight transformation was amazing..
... fun whispering to each other across the way but laughed even more when another couple arrived and stood in the other corners. The sight of the four of us all facing into the corners amused me greatly. Back upstairs and Andrew found a Faberge egg. There are a couple hundred of them spread around the city for an Easter Egg hunt. I hadn’t seen this in my research so he was glad he could tell me about something after being the recipient ...
