Doubletree Hotel Charlotte Airport
Travel Blogs from Charlotte
... take off and landing. I really want to do that. So we got there and got on the plane, boarded the passengers up and the captain got notified that there wasn't gate space for us in Charlotte and we probably wouldn't leave for about 1 1/2 hours. So we decided to have the passengers get off and wait inside rather then sit on the plane for that long. We told them they could leave their carry on bags ...
... had cancelled flights earlier in the week that got cancelled. I almost walked away and tried a different route but I've heard numerous times, "don't ever walk away till they close the door" so I stayed. And I'm glad I did because I got on! And there were still 3 seats open. I still can't believe after everything that had happened all week and all the cancellations there were that I actually got on that plane. Once I got to Phoenix, I also got on the flight to Tucson. ...
... there was a problem with the right engine so we had to wait for maintenance to come and look at it before we could leave. That took about a half hour. We got released and were ready to go but there was a fuel truck beside us and it was leaking fuel so they called the fire department out to take care of that problem before we could leave. That took about another half hour so about an hour later we were on our way. ...
... so bored in Albany that he even asked the hotel front desk person if he could have a shovel to go shovel the sidewalks for them. haha. He must have been really bored! I told him that I've never been stuck anywhere and I'd like to get stuck somewhere ...
I was working the front and the other flight attendant was working the back. This is a short flight so we don't do a beverage service on this flight. The other flight attendant came up to the front and said we have a guy in the back throwing up. So she took him back some water to drink. She was talking to him and it turns out he was at a bachelor party. He wasn't drunk but he was definitely hung over. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Doubletree Hotel Charlotte Airport
Stayed here on Coca Cola 600 weekend 5/27-5/29. Booked a Wyndham Webrate for $51 per night, and signed up for the ByRequest rewards program. Check-in was fast, and was given a second floor room with two double beds. The room was slightly larger than average, industry standard amenities. The room did have wired and wireless internet, which I was told is free as a ByRequest member, $9.95 otherwise.
This hotel has this 10 people airport shuttle which takes 1/2 hour to do a round trip, there were 30-40 of us, so some wound up waiting over an hour at the airport before got pick up. Same story leaving the next morning, tried to book a 4:30 shuttle, told by front desk that it's already full, so had to get up an extra 1/2 hour earlier just ot catch the bus. Room was clean and well set up. No free internet. Will not come back.
This is my second stay at this hotel. I was here exactly a year ago for business for 2 nights. Due to weather, I ended my stay early. This time, I stayed all 4 nights. The hotel is well decorated, the rooms have a little wear, but they are still quite nice and very clean. The hotel is very convenient to everything. This stay I was able to do a lot more tourist stuff and I am never more than 15 minutes away from anything (if I don't get lost!). The hotel restaurant is small, but is good if you don't have a car or can't go out. I think they have room service but I can't find any information about it in the room. I've had to call the front desk a few times and they always seem like I'm bothering them. The night I checked in, the front desk team was apparently from the school of one word answers. Very annoying. Other than the attitude problem at the desk, I am very pleased with this hotel. Can't beat what you get (pool, exercise room, etc.) for the price.
I went to my cousin's graduation in Rock Hill and the hotel she blocked out was out of rooms so I chose to stay in Charlotte. I'm a Wyndham devotee and love the personal touches from the Wyndham by Request program.
After traveling for hours, and night had set in...We found a wonderful respite at the Wyndham Hotel/Airport in Charlotte,NC. Before booking a room through the web-site, I enrolled in one of their programs, called "by Request". I was able to "order" extra pillows, towels, wine, snacks, etc. To our amazement, everything that was ordered was waiting for us in our room that night. Our weary eyes, lit up and we were in heaven. The luxurious amenities, provided by the "Golden Door" was another great addition to the shampoo/moisturizer supplies.
This was my first time staying at this hotel during the 4th of July weekend.
This hotel is isolated, but close to the airport and I-85 and I-77. Staff was awesome (even when I called at 2am after getting in from the race to request our next door neighbors be told to be quiet - and it worked!!!), food and bar is pricey.....nice privacy on the weekend off the main roads, extra clean hotel - lots of space in the king size room......nice pool, gym and indoor hot tub...........excellent price too! Only 20 minutes to the track (if no traffic) - not bad coming back from track once we got on I-85 south....great stay!
My son and I went to Charlotte for the Coca Cola 600 over Memorial Day in May of 2004 and had reservations at the Wyndham for 3 nights from Friday through Sunday. My one regret is that I wish I had signed up for the WyndhamByRequest as it includes some extra options that make your stay even more personal. The southern hospitality shown us was certainly evidenced staying here.
We had stayed here before and wasn't too bad. This time was horrible.
First room they gave us the ac didn't work, phone didn't work and was filthy. We went to the front desk to complain and staff was indifferent to the problem. Asked if we really wanted somebody to fix the ac. You think? Finally offered another room, and the ac worked but someone had taken the coffee maker left the coffee, and room was even dirtier.
There were maybe ten other people in the whole hotel, so it wasn't like they were full or busy. Resturant was closed for business. If we had not already paid for room (internet) we would have left. Would not stay here ever again nor would we recommend to anyone.
