... that the past, most recent, times we have been there there have been a surprising number of vacancies.
About 3:00 and a very heavy thunderstorm descended on us with very heavy rain and lightning bouncing all around. Since the park is in a creek bottom, I have visions of our Airstream floating downstream. When the sun came up, however, there was no sign of standing water anywhere, and we were on the road by 8:00 am.
Yesterday after school we decided to see an Amarican Football game. We did not have any tickets, so we just headed to the stadium 90 minutes before the game should start to see if we could get some. Arriving near the stadium, there was a traffic jam. But we got the chance to buy 4 tickets from a guy walking around between the cars. He wanted 50$ for each card, but we knew it was pre-season and the ...
... do that again. Also, I think being a guide is a really cool job there. After rafting we went to flatwater Kayaking, because we wanted to do the water activities all together. We kayaked a long way down the river and back, and on our way back the weather changed from really sunny to windy and cloudy, and it got really difficult to paddle up the river.
Then we decided to get changed and go to the Mega zip ...
... We drove home and cooked a lunch for us. Then we left only for a little shopping and getting things like shampoo but, as we are women, ended up shopping clothes. Just on our first day. Then we went on buying the things we needed.
Afterwards we went for dinner to "the cheesecake factory" where each of us got a delicious meal and we all were so full afterwards that we ...
... crossing without repairing it. So he turned the plane around to return to Charlotte. About 30 minutes later, pilot again came onto intercom and said we couldn't land at CLT with full tank of fuel, so we'd have to circle in holding pattern until burning down enough fuel for safe landing. So we flew around Virginia and North Carolina for another hour or so. We finally landed without incident at CLT at about 9:30 p.m. The decision to repair ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Doubletree Hotel Charlotte Airport
Stayed here on Coca Cola 600 weekend 5/27-5/29. Booked a Wyndham Webrate for $51 per night, and signed up for the ByRequest rewards program. Check-in was fast, and was given a second floor room with two double beds. The room was slightly larger than average, industry standard amenities. The room did have wired and wireless internet, which I was told is free as a ByRequest member, $9.95 otherwise.
This hotel has this 10 people airport shuttle which takes 1/2 hour to do a round trip, there were 30-40 of us, so some wound up waiting over an hour at the airport before got pick up. Same story leaving the next morning, tried to book a 4:30 shuttle, told by front desk that it's already full, so had to get up an extra 1/2 hour earlier just ot catch the bus. Room was clean and well set up. No free internet. Will not come back.
This is my second stay at this hotel. I was here exactly a year ago for business for 2 nights. Due to weather, I ended my stay early. This time, I stayed all 4 nights. The hotel is well decorated, the rooms have a little wear, but they are still quite nice and very clean. The hotel is very convenient to everything. This stay I was able to do a lot more tourist stuff and I am never more than 15 minutes away from anything (if I don't get lost!). The hotel restaurant is small, but is good if you don't have a car or can't go out. I think they have room service but I can't find any information about it in the room. I've had to call the front desk a few times and they always seem like I'm bothering them. The night I checked in, the front desk team was apparently from the school of one word answers. Very annoying. Other than the attitude problem at the desk, I am very pleased with this hotel. Can't beat what you get (pool, exercise room, etc.) for the price.
I went to my cousin's graduation in Rock Hill and the hotel she blocked out was out of rooms so I chose to stay in Charlotte. I'm a Wyndham devotee and love the personal touches from the Wyndham by Request program.
After traveling for hours, and night had set in...We found a wonderful respite at the Wyndham Hotel/Airport in Charlotte,NC. Before booking a room through the web-site, I enrolled in one of their programs, called "by Request". I was able to "order" extra pillows, towels, wine, snacks, etc. To our amazement, everything that was ordered was waiting for us in our room that night. Our weary eyes, lit up and we were in heaven. The luxurious amenities, provided by the "Golden Door" was another great addition to the shampoo/moisturizer supplies.
This was my first time staying at this hotel during the 4th of July weekend.
This hotel is isolated, but close to the airport and I-85 and I-77. Staff was awesome (even when I called at 2am after getting in from the race to request our next door neighbors be told to be quiet - and it worked!!!), food and bar is pricey.....nice privacy on the weekend off the main roads, extra clean hotel - lots of space in the king size room......nice pool, gym and indoor hot tub...........excellent price too! Only 20 minutes to the track (if no traffic) - not bad coming back from track once we got on I-85 south....great stay!
My son and I went to Charlotte for the Coca Cola 600 over Memorial Day in May of 2004 and had reservations at the Wyndham for 3 nights from Friday through Sunday. My one regret is that I wish I had signed up for the WyndhamByRequest as it includes some extra options that make your stay even more personal. The southern hospitality shown us was certainly evidenced staying here.
We had stayed here before and wasn't too bad. This time was horrible.
First room they gave us the ac didn't work, phone didn't work and was filthy. We went to the front desk to complain and staff was indifferent to the problem. Asked if we really wanted somebody to fix the ac. You think? Finally offered another room, and the ac worked but someone had taken the coffee maker left the coffee, and room was even dirtier.
There were maybe ten other people in the whole hotel, so it wasn't like they were full or busy. Resturant was closed for business. If we had not already paid for room (internet) we would have left. Would not stay here ever again nor would we recommend to anyone.
