For our annual girls getaway 2009 we booked a long weekend at the El San Juan in Puerto Rico...my friend had done the primary research and after I read some reviews on trip advisor regarding the resort I was a little concerned. There were hundreds of reviews reporting noise, filth, unpleasant and rude service, unexpected charges, etc...I was a little cautious but decided to take this information with a grain of salt...

After we got ourselves situated we got dressed up and made our way down
the to lobby to enjoy our first night in Puerto Rico. In the evenings the lobby transforms into a real swank lounge complete with a great Salsa band and 3 cars. There was a ballroom
competition taking place at the resort this weekend and all the dancers
were here this evening. Having these dancers really added to the
experience because they were all so talented, and it was incredible to watch them dance to the...
Our original intent today was to go explore Old San Juan, however when we woke up we decided that we needed to recoup from the previous night, so we decided to make it a pool day. We got ourselves ready for the pool and then made our way to Don Jose's, located on Ave. Isla Verde. Breakfast here was cheap and yummy! It was a great place to grab a "quick" bite, and I mean that in the looses sense of the word - service on this island is very slow, it's island life so go with the flow!

My friend is a big fan of the snorkeling, so she set us all up with an unforgettable outing - the catamaran snorkel cruise! We booked our tour through a website given to us by our hotel, Viator. What we didn't realize is that we weren't booking with a specific company - just the tour and then Viator selected the company. So, I guess we were lucky because all went smoothly and we had a great time. Now that I'm back and have done some more research on our specific boat - I know that you can boo...

So its been about my 7th time to puerto rico, but like wine, it gets better with old age. We were able to go to the bars, and my god..my mom got hammered and pretended to be an alien having bread stick crackers behind her head..definitely one of the highlights of my trip..however at the bar i met the bartender, Ernesto, and he was nice and with every new mojito he got to be really cute, thus me being the dumb tourist i gave him my ...

San Juan, Puerto Rico momentsintime... traveling independently as well so it should not be a problem finding someone to go with me. Well on to Puerto Rico. Day 1 Every time we arrive in a port a government official comes aboard and addresses the entire shipboard community about the social, political, economic, and safety concerns of their country. For Puerto Rico we were lucky to have the Governor (kind of like their president) and his Secretary of State come aboard and talk to us. Waiting for ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico tim_at_seaI've never felt so cut off from the world and at the same time so close to it. I realized this when I spent an hour trying to check my email. The reception is not entirely reliable, making it extremely difficult to utilize the internet at my will. Instead, I am at the mercy of the location of the ship, the weather, and various other things when it comes to communicating with home. And the internet was something of my last resort, since my cell phone ...
San Juan, Puerto Rico hayesbk... few words too, and they read a very ornate document that said we were honorary Puerto Ricans. After that they showed us some of the traditional dances, (very beautiful) and taught us to salsa. Well tried in my case. They also gave us food. I'd tell you what it was, I honestly don't know except that it was very good. Then they gave us two gift bags to remember them by and basically had to kick us out because everyone was having so much fun. They ...
