A Day at American Girl

It's a cold a snowy day, but we're so excited to spend the day at American Girl. We had coats and gloves and scarves to cover every inch of us, and we were still freezing! But the weather was not going to stop us from our American Girl Day! We started by looking around the store until it was time for the 12:30 musical show to start. Afterwards, we went to the AG Cafe to have our tea. There was a place setting for each of the girls' dolls as well. We had such a nice time. After that we spent m...

Great hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We have stayed here twice. Both stays were wonderful experiances. The rooms were large and very comfortable. The staff were very polite and helpful.

Loved the Wyndham!

from CATravelMom2
I was pleased to visit such an excellent hotel on my first visit to Chicago. I was given a upgrade to a King suite, I didn't even have to ask. The room was beautiful, spacious and CLEAN. The bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows. Room service was delivered quickly. The food was delicious. Any request I had was quickly and efficiently handled. The location was Excellent. I was able to walk to many of the Chicago must sees. From Buckingham Fountain to Lincoln Park to the Lake. I also found several grocery/drugstore marts close by. It was a pleasure to return to the hotel each evening. I will stay here again on my next visit.

Great location, Great Room

from TO_TRAVELLERS_8
Make sure you get a corner room. It made travelling with a family very pleasurable. A king size bed for mom and dad and a pull out couch in the living room for the kids. The kids could watch their shows while we watched ours! The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom was quite large. Housekeeping did not leave enough towels for a family of four even though the request was made three times.

The concierge could be more helpful in advising the budget oriented family. They didn't recommend any budget priced good restaurants. After a few days, we found the Foodlife in the Water Tower Place to suit each family member's taste.

The location was great to walk everywhere or to take local transit. We would recommend this hotel with the corner room to families visiting Chicago.

Loved Our Stay at the Wyndam

from A TripAdvisor Member
We went to the the Wyndam to break lose of the winter blues even though we live in the Chicago area. The location is excellent, near shopping and restraunts. The pool is small, but my kids loved as there were very few people there. Got a great dael on the internet, too bad we spent so much at the stores.

Wonderful hotel, wonderful experience.

I just got back from a weeklong stay at the Wyndham Chicago, half for pleasure, half for business. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I travel fairly often for both business and pleasure, and very few hotels impress me.

I highly recommend joining Wyndham's By Request club. It's free, and it provides great amenities.

Upon check-in, I found that rooms were not ready as it was the July 4th weekend. The front desk staff took my cell phone number and called me when the room was ready.

I was upgraded to a King suite, a lovely room with a very large living area and an adjoining sleeping room. Bed was very well made with a Serta pillowtop mattress, nice linens, and extra pillows. Furniture in the room was higher quality than usual, and the tones were pleasing. No busy wallpaper or bedspreads, no cheap veneer cabinets.

The bathroom was good-sized, with one of the best showers I have ever experienced in a hotel. Great water pressure, and water heated instantly.

When I arrived in the room, bottles of water and juice were waiting in an ice bucket, along with two plates of cheese and crackers. (This is because of the ByRequest membership). Other ByRequest features included the room upgrade, free high-speed internet access (my favorite), free long distance, and late check-out.

This was my first stay at a Wyndham, and I will never stay anywhere else in Chicago. The service was wonderful throughout my whole stay, and the room was a relief to return to.

Beautiful Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I was impressed by the hotel. I had never been to Chicago before and on my first trip I had landed the perfect hotel. I was within walking distance of everything I could want. Michigan Avenue was a block away.

There were cheap and expensive restaurants around to satisfy every taste and budget. If you are looking for a hotel in Chicago don't look any further because you are in the middle of everything. You can walk North to Lincoln Park or south to the loop. The room we got was perfect. The bathroom was big and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The only thing that dissapointed me was the concierge who I asked where I could find a supermarket in Downtown. He told that there was no such thing. The closest thing was some health food store at 900 Michigan Ave. I think she said. Of course I later found out asking other people who worked in downtown that no one knew where a supermarket might be. People who worked in the hotel and a couple of shops told me that downtown chicago had no supermarkets. I was surprised since downtown New York has and there are all this new apartment buildings springing out everywhere. I later found strolling around that there was a supermarket at North State and Ohio called Jewel-Osco. Why did I need a supermarket? I am lactose intolerant so I needed soy milk for breakfast.

Lovely hotel. I'd stay again.

This was my first visit to Chicago. I checked in on May 18th, 2003 and stayed for 2 nights. This was a nice "reward" for having spent 2 stressful days in St. Louis visiting inlaws. :) The inlaws were nice, but the hotel in St. Louis was the pits.We paid $169/night for a standard room w/ king sized bed. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the woman at the front desk had upgraded us to a suite. It was beautiful and huge!Things I liked about the Wyndham Chicago:Excellent location, within walking distance (if you enjoy walking and sightseeing) of the Magnificent Mile, Lake Michigan, Grant Park, and Navy Pier. So much good shopping, entertainment, and restaurants are nearby.High speed internet access for $9.95/day.Clean room.Comfortable bed and large room.Helpful staff (with one exception that's listed in the negatives).Valet parking.Things I did not like:When I called the concierge to ask when the sun would rise the next day, he was clueless and didn't have the gumption to do any research and get back to me. That was lame. I ended up finding the information myself in the newspaper they delivered to my room. Why was he clueless about where to find this info when it was right under his nose. Even I knew it could be found in the weather section of the local paper. At the time I called him, I did not know they had left me a paper outside the door to my room. The vending machine on our floor did not work. Seems like they were really pushing us to use the mini-bar where everything costs an arm and a leg.

Surly Front Desk - Needs Cust. Svc Training!

from A TripAdvisor Member
Comedy of errors at this hotel including a 5AM telephone call from the front desk, no amenties in the room as described, surly front desk personel who are really on the rag about something continously. Management needs to send these guys to hotel-customer-service school! I won't be staying at another Wyndham unless all other options are exhausted.

Comfy big beds!

from caroleena
Very nice upscale hotel within walking distance to Michigan Avenue shops. Beds are huge and so comfy! Would go back again!
