... Dave when the water came out of the back of the motor. We remounted the motor on Spindrift and lifted the dinghy out of the water. Dave goes "Oh damn, I forgot to pull the drain plug on the dinghy" then we all noticed the water draining out of the back of the Zoom anyway! Guess that's where the leak is!! Another project to work on. As of this moment, we don't know where we're going next. We don't want to leave ...
Nassau, Bahamas takinbetz... be nice to see some 15-20 kts for a change. It's tough moving around islands in 25-30 kts! Talked with Andy, the Park Volunteer, who is about twenty-something and lives on a houseboat - of sorts - moored out in Emerald Rock anchorage. He's been down here for about three years. He gave us the scoop on what's going on - the drug interdiction and poaching in the park. We did see the Blackhawks flying over one day. A little gossip ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... were having a good day. Proceeding up the street, a women in a tourquoise house stepped out her door to yell hello to us and asked if we were having a nice day. Children were playing in the streets and all said hello as we passed. The whole island is a great big "Meet and Greet". We came to a curve in the road and walked up to a building on Regatta Point. There is an open viewing area with multiple levels and along the path up to the house ...
GREAT GUANA CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... remaining pizza from Dominos. Dave threw his piece of crust overboard and a Black Fin Shark went after it! That's when I discovered our buddy. Our little friend who was lurking under the boat swimming out occasionally to see what was going on. He circled the boat checking everything out. When Dave started the dinghy engine he scooted away but when the engine was off, he was back. Later as ...
norman, Bahamas takinbetz... was tiny. The sign over the door indicated that the local Rotarians also meet there; I found that quite humorous. The cab ride to our marina and hotel couldn't have been longer than 6 miles and cost $35. Welcome to the Bahamas, Baby! Checked in and saw a version of our boat. We originally reserved a brand new, 37' power cat. On Monday before we left, I received a call explaining that the boat wouldn't arrive in time for our reservation, so they upgraded us to a 47', 18 ...
Abaco Islands, Bahamas valton... Indeed I'm really close to the state and it seems now easy to reach the « new continent » but now i have to pass the administration troubles. There are no official way of travelling between the States and the Bahamas but flying. My bet is not to fly and i'm not sure i can get to florida using a sailing ride or private ride cause the 3 months visa i'll take doesn't apply for this way. I have to donfirm that Monday at the first hour...
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas ayack... for the ladies as they still are peeing from their bums, so we thought a good sugar and calorie booster would be a good idea. So we're juggling feeding, diaper changing and resting, but they really are doing great. Still lots of smiles, but LOTS of dirty diapers to go along with it! Shaaaa-ish!! So we decided to not do the little trip to the small island. Why? It was indeed a short little boat ride, but it was also a tiny island ...
Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas tll-tina... fritters, calamari, and jerk chicken for dinner. Everything was pretty good. Conch fritters are fried pieces of the animal that lives in the conch shell and evidently people here eat it pretty often. It was ok, kind of like calamari only chewier. :) After dinner, it was time to say goodbye to Nassau. We'd like to come back with more time and maybe stay at the Atlantis Resort (if we had the money). We gambled a little at the ...
Nassau, Bahamas beckymike... to name a few. If relaxation is why you are on this cruise to begin with, then just take a stroll on the promenade deck. The combination of waves crashing, stars glistening, and the moon shining, are sure to send you into a state of utter bliss in no time! After your evening of fun, no matter how you have chosen to spend it, there's always another opportunity to eat AGAIN! There are usually numerous options, but I can tell you from personal experience, the ...
