          ... carriages bedecked with blooms and some large arrangements being pulled along on little handcarts. The uniforms included coloured suits; navy, pale blue, tan, green and more elaborate traditional garb with cockaded hats and decorated jackets. There was even a group in kilts with a small cross of St Andrew on their backs complete with drums and bagpipes. There were hundreds and hundred of them.
