... Em also bought some converse which were nice and cheap. We celebrated at the end with a manicure for 2 pounds each!. When we left we found out the true joy of the srping festival, air so thick you couldnt see with firework smoke! was amazing and terrifying! Amazing. Anyway finally today we went to see the cold dead corpse of Chairman Mao (number 2 out of 3 on our list of cold dead communist corpses of Asia) and then went to Beijing zoo to see some ...
Beijing, China emmaandemma... s Western Pacific regional office, said the decision by some countries to recall milk products imported from China was "reasonable". "I think many countries decided on the recall, I think under this kind of situation when the picture is not yet clear, it a very reasonable position that countries take." 2. Now it has been revealed that the company which sparked the controversy in the first place was receiving complaints last year! Already some involved have quit ...
Beijing, China happysheep... road; although it was never level as it went down and up. Going down the wall was an experience too! There was a small "tobaggan" car that I rode dowm a track all the way to the bottom. At the bottom I celebrated and quenched my thirst with a beer. Then I walked through the market. One lady told me a shirt wasonly $1 and had me follow her into her tent store. Once inside ...
Beijing, Beijing, China exploreamerica... gerechten waren eigenlijk best OK.

Beijing, China tomcarter... to try anything to crazy, didn't wanna go and get ill on the first night now (lame excuse i know)! Anyway they sold scorpians, like i had heard, plump starfish and worst of all and i couldnt actually belive this, but seahorses on skewers! Poor things! You might just beable to make it out in the pictures i got! So we just stuck to the chicken stirfry in a wrap! We were also offered dog! On our second day we did the tourist thing and went to the forbidden ...
Beijing, China liz13green... old narrow streets with houses from the Ming Dynasty where local people live) which I had not been in before but they are the same as the south. But next to our hostel with a very low key restauraunt was a stunning restauraunt which I did not expect to see in the hutong. I think we stumbled on one of Beijings little gems. There were an army of waiters and waitresses and a few matrede's one of whom "Richard" spoke English and basically we where treated like ...
Beijing, China dam... of the main road intersections near my old hotel was in exactly the same state of non-progress it was in 3 years ago. Found the shopping centre I visited before. It had changed somewhat. Gone were the junk shops selling books, stationary and cheap clothes. In their stead were designer clothes outlets and an abundance of pen shops (Parker, Mont Blanc etc). No Smiths here then. Walked down the old pedestrian street and found the Beijing Bookstore and after about 3/4 hour of trying to ...
Beijing, China garethbirduk... Great Wall at Badaling
Caught the cable car up to entry point so could spend all our time walking along the top section - lucky it was a relatively clear day, so very spectacular
Back to the Jade Gallery for shopping & lunch - very entertaining as the staff tried to discretely (at first) catch a rat which found its way into the dining room.
Dinner at Jing at the Peninsula - fabulous
