I bought some shoes I wanted to buy before we left so that was nice. We had a little misty rain but nothing too bad. I had my hair in waves so that made it an afro - oh well - no one seemed to notice!! We ended up at the cathedral. It is just so amazing. We didn't go inside but ...

... the table got the daily special, Wiener Schnitzel, because it was cheap (also very tasty) and we tucked in.

After lunch we went back to the cathedral and climbed the bell tower. It was over 500 steps and included the ever present cramped spiral staircase. From the top there was a nice view of the Rhein river and the 7 bridges of Cologne. When we all ended up back on the ground level, we stopped for a little souvenir shopping.
