      ... from a couple times where it was absolutely necessary to turn right, we turned left.  We got pretzels from a bakery and sat down near the church...the very gorgeous church.  Then we went for a lovely walk along the river where we found boats for each of us that we couldn't afford and went to a chocolate factory.  We needed to head back to Bochum then, because Kai had a dance class...and I have to give it to him- he is a fantastic dancer. Far better than I ever gave ...

      ... bend in the river .this is the largest bend in the river Rhine A lot of vine yards growing on very steep land and there are walking tracks around them .       ... the table got the daily special, Wiener Schnitzel, because it was cheap (also very tasty) and we tucked in.

      After lunch we went back to the cathedral and climbed the bell tower. It was over 500 steps and included the ever present cramped spiral staircase. From the top there was a nice view of the Rhein river and the 7 bridges of Cologne. When we all ended up back on the ground level, we stopped for a little souvenir shopping.
