After travelling through the night we berthed at ShiBaoZhai (meaning Precious Stone Fortress) to visit the Red Pagoda. The walk from the boat went via numerous stalls (selling China bird whistles), and through the town (a relocation town built 1996) and across a wobbly suspension bridge to the pagoda. From Badong dock we took a smaller boat for the 15 km up the Goddess Stream or Shennv Xi, Shennong Stream which flows from goddess Peak at Badong. It is a tributary of the Yangtze and with the dam the water levels have risen between 70-100 metres in depth depending on the season.
