6 hours of traveling later...

We arrive at Stansted at about 8pm and proceed to have a, probably, day old burger somewhere in the airport. Yum. Turns out that all the shops, in the departure lounge and outside, close at about 9pm so we have to sit around for 4 hours before our flight boards with nada to do.

Finally we get on the flight with a load of other backpacker types and head to Malaysia!

However, the next day I started to relax a bit and just tried to enjoy Oxford, which we did... with the help of another open-top bus!

Oxford had a similar, if slightly busier, feel to Cambridge. Again, all the colleges were absolutely beautiful, and very typically English, and we tried to imagine going down to an evening meal in a grand hall a la Harry Potter. We ended up ...

ah, what a cunning stunt!!

... with so they can put them on the bus! (i dont think they're called martin in all the bus stations btw). remembering the cancun to tullum incident where jo and my bags ended up going on an adventure of their own, i was especially pleasant to martin as he was obviously a man with considerable power (not over friendly or beyond the limits of propriety or anything). i also made sure i had a good peer in the luggage compartment as i boarded. the bus was packed and i was sat next to a ...

... roof was lower and there are outlines on the upper wall of the former clerestory windows. There are 22 angels in the roof holding open books, musical instruments and other things. I have to say they are nowhere near as impressive as the ones at Upwell. The font with low relief Norman arches has been there for about 700 years and there are traces of a wall painting form the 15th century which you can still see. The list of rectors goes back to 1218. The stained glass work ...
