dieser insel und fanden uns noch am selben abend wieder im royal groove hotel am waikiki beach auf oahu.


Nach all diesen eindrücken von drei verschiedenen inseln und den teilweise abenteuerlichen nächten fühlten wir uns etwas erschlagen und machten strandferien in waikiki. Viel schlafen, sonnenbaden, lesen, ausgang und nichtstun war angesagt. Damit auch die aktive ...

... die Wolken zu kommen, einen tollen sonnigen Tagesabschluss zu haben und einen letzten wunderschoenen Sonnenuntergang auf Maui zu sehen.

Der letzte Abend endet mit Pizza und einem UNGLAUBLICH leckeren New York Cheesecake (mit Oreo-Boden!!!).

Am Abend dann der Abschied von den Banana-Bungalow-Freunden bei einer letzten geselligen Runde im Garten, denn wir muessen schon um 7 Uhr am Airport sein.

... we would not have otherwise experienced...a huge waterfall from below and above that was CRANKING out water.  The Pipiwai trail is about 2 miles long but we didn't even hike half of it because we were short on time.  We went to the first waterfall, Makahiku Falls, about 2/3 mile up.  It is a 200 foot falls, but what made it seem unreal was seeing it up close.  From the overlook, we continued to go up and noticed a side path but continued up the main trail to a HUGE banyan tree that a ...

... to just watch. After that, we stopped in Ma'alea to shop and have ice cream sandwiches at Hula cookies. I had one made with Kona coffee chocolate ship cookies and chocolate macadamia ice cream. Steve had one with mac cookies and mac ice cream. Molly's was 2 "Hula" cookies (mango, pineapple, coconut and mac nuts) with passionfruit ice cream. We also bought some cookies for Caleb, including coconut chocolate and pineapple, ginger and mac nut. Yum!! Back to the condo for ...

... venture was the distance. My sandles tore up my left foot, unpleasant. We got back around 4pm and had a brief nap. It was then time to go to dinner at some lady's house. I was exhausted, so my conversation contributions were next to zero. The food was great though. After dinner I crashed out early again, I need to fix that. I think I might have made it til 10pm last night. Also, I now look like a lobster.

This morning we headed up the side of Haleakala to the Surfing Goat Dairy. We'd had reservations for their Grand Dairy Tour. The Dairy is located on the lower slopes of the huge volcanic mountain, Haleakala. We followed the directions carefully, but we still ended up on the wrong road. Our little car sped up the hill while Hilary and I tried to read the map. Instead of driving up the correct road and arriving on time, I took the Scenic Route and looped up higher on the ...

... said, "Listen to the whales!" She'd realized that we could actually hear the whales sing if we quietly put our faces in the water. I held my breath and, yes, I could faintly hear the whales singing! What a great morning! Now I'm not dreading our boat cruise to Molokini on Monday. During the afternoon, we went to the Maui Ocean Center. It's not Sea World, but has great collections of reef fish, including many of the ones we'd just been watching. ... back to the hot tub for a swim before bed time. The next day? Second verse, much like the first except we did the beach instead of shopping and tried Maui Taco for dinner (the verdict - yummy!). We have plans to go snorkeling the day after tomorrow. I'm not so much into the water frolicking but Jared is so we'll give it a go. Besides, we're in Hawaii!! How can we not do things that we wouldn't get a chance to at home?
