    ... There is also one tree in the memorial grounds which is different from all the rest. it is a Callery Pear tree while all the others are Swamp White Oaks. This pear tree was found by workers after 9/11, a damaged 8 foot tall stump in the debris. It was nursed back to health and grew to be 30 feet, sprouting new branches and flowering in spring. It is currently supported by temporary guide wires.

    Another train ride took us to Midtown where we bought lunch at Chelsea ...

    After the long walk yesterday we decided to take it easy and just pack for our trip to New York, train departing at 12:02 pm. Joe called the taxi at 10:30 but it never turned up so at 11 am we decided to take a train as the metro stop was just a short walk away.     ... 11 memorial was very impressive and the museum even more so, it was one of the best and emotional one I've ever been to. There were voicemails left on people's phones and a section dedicated to the people who turned to jumping from the twin towers, it had pictures as well which was pretty emotional. Anyway, somehow michaela and I got separated in the museum and after apparently waiting in different parts of the museum ended up going home ...

    ... all I walked about 12 kilometres, which is a lot if you're not used to it. ;-)

    In the evening I went to the Nederlander Theatre to see Newsies (also on foot). What a great show! The story is almost the same as in the 1992 Disney movie with Christian Bale (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104990/) , with some slight alterations. Great songs, acting and most of all dancing.
