When we finally got back to the house, it was time to leave so we said our good byes and headed south-east towards Boise, ID around 12Noon.
We stopped at The Dalles for a few pictures and to stretch our legs then on to Pendleton, OR for the night. On the way we were stopped for about 20 minutes because of a wild fire. the fire department must have gotten there ...

Another really hot day, so we're looking forward to getting back to some cooler Oregon weather (at least we hope it will be!).

We're staying at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton and our room is on the 10th floor. Great view of the sunset.

... harvest and the vast number of crates waiting to be filled. We also noted Fiesta Foods a large Hispanic grocer chain doing a booming business. Even down south we don't have these stores. We crossed the Columbia River into Oregon and were impressed with the beautiful ranching areas. We finally ended up at Pendleton a delightful old west type town from the early 19th century that had quite a lot of industrial plants including its 1909 woolen mill.

... He also does bird carvings that are as good as any I've seen, and his wife draws and paints. We've met some really interested and talented people on our trip!

We spent our last morning there walking around and checking out the Oregon Trail exhibit they have. There's a spring in the park (the one it's named after) that was a very popular stop on the trail, and a big stone marker placed there to identify the location. It was ...

... labor was cheaper, at 1 bowl of rice per day and 5 cents per week. The tour was well done, by a retired high school teacher. After that tour we shot over to the Pendleton Factory. That was a good tour as well. They don't do a whole lot at this factory anymore; most of their product is made in China. Hmmmm, made in China.

All in all, I will give Pendleton two thumbs up with an apple. We had a good stay.
