    ... clear. I went in and out of a few little shops and took photos of things that took my fancy. Along the Main Street I found the Buttercross which dates back to the early 15th century. It was restored in 1865 and has a tall many pinnacled cross and five octagonal steps. It was once used by country men to sell produce, hence the name, Butter Cross.     I just totted up the total distance we pedaled between Rome and Canterbury - it comes to 1,892Km (or 1,182 miles).

    The ride from Canterbury to where Ian's car was parked near Gatwick was a further 137Km, split by the overnight stop at Tunbridge Wells.

    We get up to a nice day , had a great nights sleep and this morning had a nice breakfast with fruit and protein ! Jeff calls the car rental, to tell them we will be a tad late. Oh oh.
