It frreakin' SNOWED today. I was expecting a day of sunshine but I only got a 20 second preview of blue sky this morning outside of town on the way to Salzburg Zoo. Check out the first pic to see what I thought was the unveiling of the mountains I've been longing to see. But instead I got the beauty of snow for a few hours. It was only light, but so happy I got to see it (and it was the first snow of the season).

Side note: the travel guide complemented me in front of everyone for my beautiful ...

... seen on one placard and a pitiful little presentation of well worn photographs in a dilapidated ring binder. Something similar has played out for the Sound of Music, in the wandering Gazebo experience, Maria Von Trapp's reaction, the removal of the Hollywood filmmakers from the Palace and other similar incidents.

"I am 16 going on 17!" Rolf and Liesl sang. I really wanted to leap from bench to bench, but the ...

... in the middle. Our tour continued across the Salz river and a ‘love lock’ bridge into the old city which was dotted with churches and towered over by a medieval fortress. It seems we had arrived in time for the annual celebration of the patron saint of Salzburg - St Rupert -so the city squares featured rides, beer halls and souvenir stands. And gave me strong sense of deja vu. Everywhere you turned there appeared to be a gothic church and we made notes of the things ...
