Many moons ago on The Forest High band camp were on the Las Vegas strip laughing at the gondola men on the fake lake at The Venetian casino. Little did I know that one day I would be in Venice enjoying the real thing and yes there are lots of gondolas and lots of water. Venice is literally a floating city and because of this navigation is very tricky at times. You all know how directionally challenged I am and Venice tested me to the extreme. The ...

The next morning we felt rather accomplished with our time in Salzburg, with ...

The catacombs was the location where the Von Traps took refuge in the movie. The catacombs were supposedly at the abbey, but in realty the catacombs are located at St. Peter's Monestary. The catacombs date back to the third century A.D. and were actually never used in the movie (the scene was filmed on a set in L.A.) However, the real Max Detweiler (who was instrumental in entering the Von Traps in the music festival) is buried in the cataacombs. It was a beautiful ...

... a free souvenir magnet after our tasting!

On our way back to the train station, we stopped by Mirabell Palace and gardens. The gardens were intricately detailed with patterns among the florals. I enjoyed admiring the statues that lined the garden and picturing scenes from the Sound of Music, which had certain scenes filmed here. We boarded the train back to Munich to ensure we arrived with plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and board our sleeper train for our next stop...
