... the war the camp was then used to house 25,000 Germans who awaited war time trials. The barracks got destroyed by fire in 1962 and only the first of 36 buildings that housed over 300 prisoners was rebuilt to show the cramped living conditions. It has been a rather morbid but interesting morning trying to take in all the information provided and walking through areas where so much suffering and death occured. ... us being weird). We also put one on for lees oma & grandad. The hotel room was massive!! It has 2 double beds, a single bed and a large desk in the room and there is still room to have a party! We arrived in Graz on Sunday evening, for a few days' spent with Mr and Mrs Holland. Thanks to Mum and Dad for having us, and we had a great time. The weather was generally good, though with the rain showers regular enough to remind us what an ordinary summer central Europe has had, compared to normal.

Wednesday 28 May Schloss This morning we set to walk up the Schloss, the fortified area overlooking the town. It was raining so we popped into a church to have a little look around. A service was starting so we sat down and partook. A great organ and a singer led some of the hymns. The town has a central old quarter
which is remarkably preserved. The Holy Roman Emperor had a
residence here at one stage so the cathedral and many palaces of the
officials are suitable magnificent. This area, protected by the
overlooking schloss, survive the 2nd ww bombing but large
