Nice slow start to the day.

Checked out ~11:00am and rode to Dave's place at Corinth.

Dave took me and the kids to the Country Club Pool for a swim and general relaxing after he had to work all day. Well some people do have to work! Jeff also joined us and we cooled off nicely from ...

Chichasha as they call themselves, or Chickasaw as the government calls them, are a people who see themselves as 'enduring'. Our time at their cultural Centre was exceptionally good. The day dawned cloudless and warm. Driving on 'normal' highways was far more relaxing than my experience on the i35 to Fort Worth. I finally got to see oil derricks working extracting that black gold Texas is famous for. we stopped at a look out and the scent of Cedar infused ...

We navigated our way along 66 through deepest Missouri until we reached our digs for the night. Boots Motel is another iconic Route 66 motel and is famous for counting hollywood star Clark Gable as one of its regular guests. I parked the car round the back and Ash had a cigarette while I went to check in. I was invited in by a welcoming lady who introduced herself as Debbie. She expressed her delight that we were here for Route 66 and ...

We left the park and crossed into Texas, of course stopping at the visitors' center for maps. The traffic through Fort Worth was terrible! When we finally made it home to Austin we were greeting by our loving husbands and a beautiful dinner that they prepared, complete with lovely table setting and flowers! Aren't we the lucky gals!?

... casino, but not right at it. So we wound up in Thackerville, OK.

Getting to Oklahoma was a challenge. Just north of Temple, I-35 was virtually shut down because of an incident some 12 miles up the road. It took an hour and 20 minutes to do those 12 miles! By the time we got to Thackerville we'd been on the road over 7 hours. We were so glad to finally get there we weren't even remotely interested in unhooking the toad and going ...
