... hour and half to my hotel and the sun was setting so no more stops today. Once I got to La Crosse I found out that a yarn shop was right next door to my hotel. The Great River Road Afghan was meant to be! The lady who owned the shop was super nice and looked at my yarn from MN and helped me pick out my WI yarn. Another big shout out to my knitting lady friends from the Yarn Gallery in Grand Rapids, MN. It was great ...

experience of the trip. As we drove into the area we were in awe. We
were expecting a little camp group on the Mississippi River but this

What a beautiful drive through the southern parts of South Dakota, Minnesota, and into Wisconsin! Rolling hills of yellow wild flowers in South Dakota. European-style farmhouses and those giant wind turbines everywhere along I-90 through Minnesota. And the giant bluffs along the flood-swollen Mississippi River as we entered Wisconsin ...

... didn't carry my usual worries about making miles and submitted to spontaneity. As a result I had a fun day enjoying my little family, and have put the burden of driving 600 miles to the Black Hills on my future self. I'm not going for any records this summer. The only thing troubling me is how untroubled I am. Usually I worry all day about sleeping places . Today I fell into a great campsite and that's that. I'll find some time to worry about stuff in ...
