    We left Andy's place at 8.30am to drive to San Diego. It was a two and a half hour drive. We stopped en route for Andrew to collect his race registration gear. It was a large sporting warehouse and Mum and I bought new sunglasses. Andrew bought a shirt and Rachel bought a hip band to hold her phone when she is at the gym.     ... nap, which did me a world of good. I was at least able to function. We took a nice walk with Riley, their cute little Havanese pup, had some wine, chatted some more and went to bed.

    ... and had a look at the aircraft carrier, Midway which is now a tourist attraction. It is massive and I can hardly wait to board it. It is included in our GoCard package. They have a wonderful Bob Hope statue display with sound from Bob Hope telling jokes to the troops. Finally I loved this statue of the famous kiss by the sailor to a nurse after WWII ended.

    ... a steep hill with a stop sign at the bottom. It turns out this is just a brake area. The hill was so steep we could not see the road on the other side that we were to drive down. Ed says we would go airborne with out the stop sign! At another stop we had to wait for a light to hange to green before we could make the right turn because the hill was so steep we could not see the tops of the cars in the turn lane until they were too near for us to clear ...

    ... is a lovely island with manicured gardens, pretty and very upmarket worth a day trip or short stay. On the way back to our hotel we stopped off at The Gaslamp area, the oldest part of Downtown.
