    ... city was named after a 19th century Paiute chief who lived in the area. Basque immigrants tended sheep in the area beginning in the mid 19th century. The Central Pacific Railroad reached Winnemucca in 1868. The First National Bank was robbed by Butch Cassidy in 1900. The town is the home of the Buckaroo Hall of Fame and Heritage Museum.

    So yes, the I-80 corridor is somewhat devoid of population centers but tomorrow we travel the even more desolate Highway 95 to Boise.

    We were up at 6am to have our included breakfast and on the road by 7am for a big day of driving. We took interstate 15 south via Butte and turned off onto highway 33 then 93 to Twin Falls.
