... off the beaten path to Promontory Utah. That is where the "golden spike" was used to connect the West and East by rail. You should have heard my car then...everyone else could. That didn't stop me ... I returned to the freeway via a 30 mile country road and then onto Twin Falls where the noise was too great and my common sense kicked in.
... a cheap pillow than the fact that it was a Walmart. Although that was good too. I did not think that it was much better than ASDA. Larger certainly but other than that not much different. Other than that excitement it was driving all day. Lots of sleeping occurred and so it was very quiet for much of the journey. We did have a few stop as usual bu we were travelling through an area that was ...
Twin Falls Idaho, Idaho, United States hettie.ethel... bare mountains turned into Pine forests after about an hour's drive. I tried to image my parents cuddling in the car listening to the raging river and heading for the courthouse. It was a long squat, single story building of brick. I had imagine something more majestic.ov
After leaving Cascade I headed for Twin Falls for the night. The wide ...
... that reminded me of a place where my dad and I used to go when I was young. We would throw rocks into the creek, seeing who could be the best shot at hitting logs or submerging aluminum cans from our vantage point on the bridge. It made me sad that he couldn't be there with me share it again. But I was happy to have had the memory.

Well decided to head west through Idaho instead of south to Salt Lake City to go see Crater Lake. Driving through Idaho was a bit frustrating at times. I think there is more road construction going on here then anywere else, and the worst part is I came to an intersection claiming one road was closed and the other was the detour but the opposite was true. Perhaps I misread the sign but I don't think so, so I ended up having the ...
Twin Falls, Idaho, United States cmbuchholz... my dad's raft back over.
After flipping the raft back over and getting into the boat I found that the dry box on the raft leaked and all my clothes I brought were soaked. We went through a couple more rapids before hitting a lateral wave that almost flipped the boat over (again!). It went up completely sideways and I fell out, my dad barely stayed in the raft. I swam over to the side and another raft picked me up. At this point I was probably the ...
... went for a drive to check out the Twin Falls themselves, which werent too exciting as there wasnt much water going over them. From there I went out to dinner to a nearby Applebees restaurant. I had a couple of beers after dinner before heading back to the hotel to crash for the night.
Twin Falls, Idaho, United States maccasworldtour... that I could not see the car in front of us. We made it through. We stopped briefly in Shoshone and I showed Amy where we used to live. We also walked along the main road. A sign indicated that the fair and rodeo was happening and we decided to come back at 8pm for the rodeo. Some things in Shoshone were still the same, and some were new. When we arrived at the KOA we checked-in and reserved a Kabin with AC ...
Jerome, Idaho, United States life-in-a-yurt... take at home? I'm guilty; I am an American consumer with no thought of the big picture but of only my little world and my only concern is weather I can pay the utility bill. When we visited Nick and Becky, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Tanzania a few years back, the electric bill was prepaid at the meter. When one would use the prepaid amount of electricity, your power would automatically turn off. Not a bad system if you ask me. I ...
Jerome, Idaho, United States johnsonfamily... they are still there, but that had to be the best breakfast I ever had.
After leaving there I made a stop at a rest area scenic overlook on my way into Pocatello, where I stocked up on groceries and got some film. Now I swear they had price collusion in Pocatello for their gas prices. Every gas station I saw in town was either $134.9 or $1.35.9 no matter whether it was a ...
