    ... Visiting many of the memorials throughout the city was a powerful and humbling experience. Given that Sumatra's population is over 90% Muslim, I chose to wear a hijab headdress as we drove around the city, engaging three different Muslim women at various points during the afternoon to help me put it on properly, and adjust it as needed. They were all delighted to show me. Lovely energy.

    We arrived home on May 28/14.
    What an adventure we had! It took 3 days to end our trip. We left Santiago by train on May 26th to Madrid. It was a 5 hr train trip which included the slow train as well as the fast train- 250 km/ hr.
