Las Vegas, Nevada, United States beetlejuice... fair, she knew what she on about - it was rather good. Next stop was MGM Grand, and saw the Liopns prowling around in their fairly small enclosure - cool to see, but also not quite right. Apparently there's white tigers in one of the other casions too. Returned to our room at Bill's which looked straight at the Bellagio fountain, which does some pretty amazing shows each night, so watched a few of those ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States laura-and-craigA slightly later start today, as we got picked up from our hotel at around 7:45am. After paying for our tickets at the bus depot we headed over to Boulder City, a short drive out of Las Vegas. We continued on to Hoover Dam, which was built between 1931 and 1935. It was a big kick start to getting the US out of the great depression, and even by today's standards is a huge structure ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States marksadventures... won some and walked to the next Casino with only $75. We wandered along the strip to the MGM Grand where Mike taught me how to play the Wheel of Fortune (not that it was hard!) We started with $20 and walked away with $100 after giving up $20 in tips and playing for about an hour and a half. Let's not forget the free drinks!!! All up we had a good night, finally hitting the sack about 1am... just in time for our 5am start the next day!
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States mikebrookedavis... at least half the crowd was carrying and consuming some kind of alcoholic beverage in brightly colored plastic glasses of varying shapes (Eiffel Tower, footballs, flower vases and the like). The costumes of the Vegas clientel tended to be either shorts/t shirts or wedding attire. I've never seen so many scantily dressed, cleavage laden, and tightly woven women anywhere; and so many high heels ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States npacadia... wanted a pretzel. Marc was like!!!! The pretzels are all the way over in NY NY. We walked through Luxor and Excalibur and across the street to NY NY. I got an everything pretzel with mustard and marc got a pepperoni and parmesan pretzel. Then we walked back to our Hotel to rest a little. Of course, I fell asleep while watching a movie. I think it was Nacho Libre. Around 4pm we started getting ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States aurora813... touch I thought. I said to Penn and Teller that I didn't want a conventional photo so I pretended to lick one's earlobe and the other I pretended to eat his face!! (I don't know who is who). Surprisingly, they were both quite amenable to my requests!! Sometimes alcohol is a wonderful thing! (David: Teller is not as short as you'd think he is. But Penn is sooo massive he makes everyone look short. In fact, Teller is taller than me. He did a great trick with a red ball. I don't ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States mrsdp... or so into the airport at the southern end of the city's skyline, providing the first clue of how busy the place would be. Our hotel was easy to find, located as it was at the Southernmost end of the strip and modelled to look exactly like Manhatten, complete with Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Yes, we had chosen Hotel and Casino New York New York, partly because it has a roller-coaster looping around the outside of the building. We ...
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States lauravanwaas... and a not-so-cool 80 - 85 degrees at night. We signed-up for players cards just so we could get half-price at the dinner buffet, which was pretty terrible. It was like Warren Towers (for all the BU folk) or any other nasty college cafeteria. The rest of the night we toured through a bunch of hotels, were propositioned by cabbies to hit up strip clubs, and spent whatever cash we had left on either booze or betting... neither really worked out.......Vegas.
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States leoj89... With many pieces of luggage we had added along the way, off we went. John and NOrman had a nice car with lots of room to sit back and enjoy the view..We on the other hand had so much luggage that we were cramped the first night, then the next day, the guys helped us out and we were off the spend the day playing cards, eating and reading. Arriving in Minsk, the kids were at the wrong gate so we missed them but managed to get to our hotel with out their help ...
